Memorial Plaque To David Nicklin
On Sunday 3rd July 2011 a memorial plaque was dedicated to David Nicklin.
The Club Captain Mr. Phil Moon gave the follow address: I would like to offer a warm welcome to David’s friends and family who have joined us today to pay tribute to David. It is fitting that the memorial plaque has been located on our fine putting green as without David’s drive and commitment to this major project it would never have been constructed. This is seen as David’s crowing achievement during his many years of service at Lofthouse and will stand as David’s legacy to the club. I know David was very proud of his membership number one at Lofthouse where he served the club as our Club Captain and Honorary Secretary and a valuable member of the club committee for many years. David was one of the few members of the club who has put at least as much into the club as he got out of it. I took over from David as Honorary Secretary when he decided to stand down from the position and I got to know David very well during me time serving on the committee. I could always reply on David’s help and advice when needed and really appreciated his support. David was a big man with a big heart and was one of life’s true characters and will be remembered for this as much as for his many years as a servant to the club. I would now like to official open this memorial plaque to David in the knowledge that he will live on in our hearts and memories. Please can you raise your glasses as a toast to David’s life.
